Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., a leading South Korean shipbuilder, said on Monday that it has clinched two deals worth about USD 260 million to build three very large crude carriers.
The shipbuilder said it is set to deliver two of the carriers, which can each hold 300,000 tons of crude oil, to Korea Line Corp., a mid-sized South Korean shipping company, by the end of 2019.
In a separate deal, Daewoo Shipbuilding said it will hand over another very large crude carrier to a European shipping company by 2020, without identifying its customer. The shipbuilder said that it has received about USD 2.18 billion worth of ship orders so far this year, amounting to 17 vessels.
