A liner agency agreement between Hapag-Lloyd and GAC Nigeria has been extended after the merger of the former with United Arab Shipping Company (UASC).
Hapag-Lloyd and GAC Nigeria signed their first liner agency agreement five years ago. At this time an office and dedicated team was specifically put in place to handle all their affairs.
GAC will handle all aspects of the Hapag-Lloyd/UASC’s business in Nigeria including husbandry services, sales, customer service and the import and export of a large number of containers.
Subsequent to the merger, the German shipping company will deploy its largest vessels to call at Nigerian ports and put a new service for West Africa which will call directly to Nigeria in place.
GAC anticipates that the merger of the two shipping lines will amount to a substantial increase in business for Hapag-Lloyd in Nigeria. This will in turn prompt GAC Nigeria to make a significant investment in office assets and personnel to meet the demands of additional business.
