IMO Virtual Awards Event to be held on April 7

The International Maritime Organization will be premiering its first ever Virtual Awards Event on its official YouTube Channel on Wednesday, 7 April 2021, at 1p.m. London time.

The event, which should approximately half an hour, spans two separate award categories that recognize the achievements of four exceptional individuals in maritime:

The prestigious International Maritime Prize for 2019 will be awarded to Peter Hinchliffe, former Secretary-General, International Chamber of Shipping (ICS).

The 2020 IMO Awards for Exceptional Bravery at Sea Awards will also be awarded to Marcio Santos Teixeira and Fabio Rodrigues Alves de Abreu (Brazil), for averting a major oil spill event at the Terminal Almirante Barroso in São  Sebastião  Port; and to  Ralph  Ofalla  Barajan  (Philippines), who saved  the lives of all those  onboard  the sinking passenger vessel Siargao  Princess.
