LNG Tanker Strikes VLCC at Fujairah, Heavy Damages Reported

Two tankers suffered extensive damages after a collision which took place at Fujairah anchorage (Gulf of Oman) in UAE on Sunday night.

The incident took place when LNG tanker ‘Aseem’ collided with VLCC Sninyo Ocean which was anchored at Fujairah. While Shinyo Ocean suffered a huge portside hull-height breach, Assem suffered severe bow damage.

After the collision, Aseem was anchored and Shinyo Ocean was relocated to a different position.

According to track, Assem in ballast arrived at Fujairah anchorage from India, reportedly for bunkering. Initially, the LNG tanker was bound for Qatar. On the other hand, Sninyo Ocean was anchored at Fujairah since March 16.
