Ian Salter joins BMT Australia

He joins BMT as the organisation pivots to capture a bigger portion of Australia’s vast and growing expenditure on defence. Strategic advice to strengthen BMT’s regional portfolio, as the business looks to expand its footprint in the defence and security industry, and multiply wins led by an influx of investment by multinationals/primes.

BMT, a leading international design, engineering and management consultancy, has appointed Ian “Salty” Salter to lead its Technology, Innovation, Consulting and Advisory services for BMT’s Australian Defence and Security business.

Salty brings over three decades of Defence and Security experience to the role, including over 20-years with the Royal Australian Navy and employment with global defence companies, including Nova Systems and Thyssenkrupp.

“We’re thrilled to have Salty join our Defence and Security senior leadership team in Australia,” Managing Director, BMT Defence and Security Australia, Peter Behrendt said.

“We welcome Salty to the company as we continue to grow our industrial capability, innovative technology and high value consultancy and advisory services in support of defence and security clients,” added Mr Behrendt.

“In addition, BMT sees a role in helping Australia’s industry aggregate and develop their sovereign capability to win and execute on work in their own right or in collaboration with primes. Salty is also here to help lead conversations and drive us to continue to meet the challenges and opportunities this defence investment will bring.” added Mr Behrendt.

Salty will be based in Adelaide, Australia, but will manage the delivery of multiple programs of work for our clients across Australia, New Zealand and Pacific island nations.
