First Services to be Launched by US Shipping Firm ACS

A new regular weekly fixed-day Atlantic cabotage service is to be launched by newly-formed Atlantic Coastal Shipping (ACS) based in Maiami, Florida. In addition to this, a  regular fixed nine-day Caribbean feeder service with a multi purpose twin deck geared container vessel is also in the offing later this year. The company plans to start trading soon with a domestic RoRo/container vessel.

The weekly cabotage route is planned along the US Atlantic East Coast corridor between the Port of Miami and Port Newark while the feeder service will cover three hubs in the Caribbean and South Atlantic – Kingston Container Terminal in Jamaica, DP World Caucedo in the Dominican Republic and The Freeport Container Port in the Bahamas.

“When Congress allocates the funds for the President’s National Infrastructure Renewal Program our cabotage service will be the only, efficient, secure, cheap logistic intermodal transportation option for US Government and private cargoes for an I-95 under construction,” the company said in a statement.

While the exact launch date is yet to be revealed, it is reported that the first sailings of ACS’ new services are to begin in mid/late November.
