LNG Shipped from the Yamal LNG Project Tops Five Million Tons

Yamal LNG on Tuesday announced that the 68th cargo offloaded from the Yamal LNG project onto the Arc7 ice-class tanker “Christophe de Margerie” topped 5 million tons of LNG produced since the start-up of LNG train #1 in December 2017.

The first two liquefaction trains with cumulative annual production capacity of 11 million tons have been operating within their nameplate design parameters.

As commissioning of LNG train #3 continues, the first firing of a compressor gas turbine was achieved in September, which is one of the key activities in the pre-startup sequence.

Yamal LNG is constructing a 17.4 mtpa natural gas liquefaction plant comprised of three LNG trains of 5.5 mtpa each and one LNG train of 900 thousand tons per annum, utilizing the hydrocarbon resources of the South-Tambeyskoye field in the Russian Arctic.

The first LNG Train began production in the fourth quarter of 2017 with the loading of the inaugural tanker on 8 December 2017. The first cargo produced by Train 2 was dispatched on 9 August 2018.

Yamal LNG shareholders include PAO NOVATEK (50.1%), Total (20%), CNPC (20%), and the Silk Road Fund (9.9%)
