J-ENG Announces Development of Main Engine with Superior Low Fuel Consumption

Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) exhibited at “BARI-SHIP 2019”, one of the biggest maritime exhibitions held in Imabari city, Ehime Prefecture from May 23 to 25, 2019. Many people related to the shipping industry including ship owner and shipyard visited at J-ENG’s booth. On the last day, many families also visited.

At this exhibition, J-ENG announced the development of the cutting edge main engine with super low fuel consumption, “UEC42LSH”, “UEC42LSJ”, which will be released to the market in March 2021.

This “UEC42LSH” engine will be developed as a successor to UEC45LSE engine, which is the best seller engine for the small and medium sized vessels, mainly Handysize BC, and “UEC42LSH” has the optimal output and engine speed for Handysize BC and/or small sized chemical tankers based on thorough market research.

In addition, this engine is realized further low fuel consumption and downsizing in order to comply with EEDI regulations and save a space in the engine rooms, reflecting the increase of the market requirements. And, it is also targeted to promote the digitization, enhance the reliability, and realize the CBM (Condition Based Maintenance).

At the seminar held at “BARI-SHIP 2019”, J-ENG introduced “the MGO (Marine Gas Oil) mono-fuel engine, UEC-LSJ”,“The latest service situation of the UE engine and after service recommendation guidance”,and a large number of listeners attended this seminar.
“UEC-LSJ” was developed as an environmentally friendliness engine under the concept of “JUMP” (J-ENG, Unique Marine Power), which fully complies with all environmental regulations concerning NOx, SOx and CO2 (EEDI).

Especially for the global cap to cope with SOx regulations which will be entered in force from 2020,although some solutions are being considered throughout the shipping industry. MGO mono-fuel concept provide benefits to all the related stakeholders, such as ship owners, ship operators, shipyards and crews due to stable fuel of MGO and/or MDO, which has already been used in worldwide.

J-ENG will continue to develop and manufacture engines which meets the market requirements, such as UEC42LSH and LSJ series (MGO mono-fuel engine), as a licensor of Japan made engine brand “UE Engine”, to contribute the further improvement of the shipping industry.
